Provita hosts Norwegian visitors
Provita Animal Health had the pleasure of hosting a group of Norwegian beef farmers. During their time in Northern Ireland, the Norwegian visitors had the chance to see several different farms that use Provita products giving them the opportunity to see the products in action. Those that visited from Norway highlighted the differences in the Norwegian agricultural environment and that of Northern Ireland. Whilst the overall annual GDP of agriculture in both countries works out at roughly 2%, the percentage of the land cultivated in the two countries is very different. Norway has only 3% of the land cultivated, due to the cold climate, thin soils and mountainous terrain, whereas 78.8% of Northern Ireland’s land is under cultivation for grazing, crops, forestry and fruit.
Provita Making Better Silage Demos
Provita are hosting two farm demos on silage making. The demos focus on good management and silage making tips, the use of silage inoculants and pros and cons of using farmer owned silage making machinery. Despite a very difficult year both demo farms have made excellent silage.

Provita Promist Demo Review – Clearing the air and helping reduce antibiotic usage by 90%
James and Francis Kyle who run 220 milking cows and other enterprises near Ballymoney have seen a significant difference in their calf health and vitality since they started using Provita Promist so were happy to host a demo and share their experiences. They were using a fan and tunnel but were still having problems. Since using Provita Promist they have reduced their usage of antibiotics. Attendees were interested to learn that due to the increased use of vaccines there has been an increase in mycoplasma related pneumonia for which there is not a vaccine commercially available. Promist can help to control air quality and is formulated to combat all harmful air and surface pathogens that can cause pneumonia.
Provita Hoofsure HELP service demo – Reducing lameness and improving profitability
The demonstration hosted by Pat Lenehan and his nephew Pete was well attended by farmers with lameness problems on their farm. Not all of them footbath regularly or have a system set up to allow regular footbathing. Pat and Pete milk 70 cows in Crossmaglen. When they were installing a new parlour, they contacted Provita rep Kieran Donnelly to arrange a no obligation visit to action Provita’s Hoofsure
